By the time children have reached a certain age, their jaw has stopped growing, and then they are a candidate for braces. Before this time, we may suggest early interceptive orthodontics in order to plan out the orthodontic treatment when the patient is of age.
Traditional braces use metal brackets, wires and spacers to tighten the teeth over a period of time. These are a traditional and popular way to have braces done. Patients who are adults also enjoy using Invisalign Braces. Invisalign is a series of clear plastic liners that are virtually invisible. Whereas traditional braces are metal and can be seen by other people, Invisalign has very low visibility. They’re used for about the same amount of time as traditional braces, which is anywhere from a year to 2 years. It all depends on the patient’s individual needs and the amount of alignment needed. Come in for an appointment so we can give you a comprehensive exam and figure out which type of braces you are a candidate for.
